Top Three Coachella Mistakes

The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival without a doubt has put us on the map as a city of festivals. Being mainly a rural community, the Coachella valley has the capability of hosting large scale events. In 1999, Coachella was officially inaugurated in the Empire Polo Club. Since then, 120,000 people have visited the valley from all over the world. All our visitors ready themselves for an unforgettable weekend, hence the term ‘Coachella Ready’. On one side of the token, they bring their best indie outfits, their tanning lotion and their best fittest bodies. On the flip side, many visitors and locals fail short of achieving the Coachella ready standard. Here are the top three mistakes in getting ready for Coachella.

Mistake #1: Planning

Planning for this amazing event is a must. First you need to set a goal and visualize yourself with your Rockstar outfit and your dream body having fun. Once you have that visual, determine how long it would take you to achieve that vision. Whether you want to pack on some muscle mass or shed some body fat, understanding how long it would take to do so is crucial. You must give yourself enough time to reach your goal. At Desert Barbell we do not play the guessing game, we apply the science to determine the rate of your projected progress. We have seen in the past that it takes four to five months on average for our clients to make drastic positive results. Once you determine the time frame you’ll need to reach the goal. Break down that goal into short term goals and create action plans to achieve those short term goals. Don’t fall short of your vision, give yourself enough time to reach your full potential and stick with the plan.

Mistake #2: Consistency

Keep that vision alive! Often we fall short on reaching our goals because we are not consistent. You have heard the term “Keep your eyes on the price”. Well, you need to do just that. Something that we recommend to our personal training clients is to do a vision board to keep a constant reminder of what they are going to accomplish. Also, having an accountability partner or coach will help you stay consistent. Our constant text messages also help them be more accountable and consistent.

Mistakes #3: Nutrition

Not having a good, reasonable and sustainable nutrition program might be the determining factor in you feeling your best at Coachella. Many nutritionists and personal trainers often make the mistake of going to an extreme in their one fits all meal plans. You might not have the time to eat 5-7 meals a day, or to be counting/weighing food throughout the day. Maybe you do not like to meal prep on Sunday and eat leftover tasting food the entire week. Our nutritional methods are always tailored based on your lifestyle, adjusting your nutrition needs to be based on you and no one else.
